There are rumors circulating about the acquisition of payment service provider Softcard by Google to improve its Google Wallet.
Even though adoption of Mobile payments is low at the moment, but there is a huge hyper especially after the launch of Apple Pay last September. In order to take stay ahead in the market of Mobile payments, Samsung recently acquired the mobile payments firm LoopPay.
Google Wallet has been available in the market for quite some time now though it is mostly used for payments across its own services and lacks wider integration. It is speculated that acquisition of Softcard is intended to rejuvenate Google Wallet on mobile.
As with all rumors and speculations, there has been no official word from Google who has declined to comment but we are likely to hear more about this in the near future.
