Impressed by a popular band? or seen a friend easily strum those latest tunes? For some that is reason enough to be convinced that they need to buy a guitar and work their magic to impress a few people here and there! or simply become popular.

So you have bought yourself a guitar now what? You scout the internet for lessons, tips, collect a lot of material, even get yourself a copy of guitar pro but still that is not enough to get you churning out masterpieces. The reason is quite simple, guitar playing is not merely a casual activity which you just pick up and presume you can play like Satriani. It needs a lot of effort, determination, time and hard work before you can actually play something pleasing. Most beginners are just put off because they do not want to learn the chords or practice, they just want to start playing music they hear on tv, and this is not possible unless you learn how to play properly.

Now though you can take a different approach towards learning. Wild Chords for iPad is one of its kind app that lets you learn and practice side by side. The application has been designed as a game with a strong pied piper like theme; Animals have escaped from the zoo and running wild across the city. It is up to you to play your guitar to calm/hypnotize them and lead them back to the zoo.

The game requires you to actually strum your guitar each time you need to capture an animal.

Different animals are denoted different chords and as you walk down the road you have to strum the correct chord to get a particular animal’s attention.

Wild chords also teaches you how to play a particular fret.

Once in an exercise the user is immersed into the jingle. The setting is such that one feels connected to the music that is playing, it is just like you are playing the missing bits of a song which is actually quite good. It give the player a feeling that they are actually playing something and not just strumming random chords. The overall design and layout is neat and fresh with graphics that would want you to play over and over again.

The app also features a built-in guitar tuner so you do not need to worry about tuning. Just strum individual strings and the tuner would do the rest for you.

There are a total of 31 exercises that should be enough to get you going. A few of the exercises might cause a little trouble to the experienced players as well! If you are done with all the exercises and still want to continue, you can make in app purchases for more exercises. These feature different places for you to hunt for animals.

The app also lets you track your progress within the game to see how well you are doing. Wild chords also lets you share your progress/achievements on facebook.

The app is available on the iPad only for $7.99 and can be downloaded directly from the

itunes store

So what are you waiting for? let the hypnotizing begin!
